ABOUT US
PREPARING YOUNG MINDS
FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE.
Active Minds Early Learning Academy opened our doors in 2014. We offer a fully-inclusive learning environment, including preschool, for children aged 3-5 years. We provide hands-on learning opportunities for children which are deeply rooted in Science and the Arts. We work in close collaboration with various agencies to serve everyone under our care, including Central Rivers AEA, Child Care Resource and Referral, Department of Human Services, and the federal food program which helps us provide healthy meals and snacks (CACFP).

Our Director, Ronni Armstrong, has worked with children for over 25 years. She received her BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, and Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She also holds a Master’s degree in Professional Development for Teachers from UNI, which she applies to train our staff in the developmentally appropriate practice.

We believe in guiding children to encourage them to develop to their fullest potential. Our caring staff facilitate child-centered learning experiences in our classrooms all day long which enhance themes of study. We provide active and quiet times within our daily schedule with large and small group instruction as well as individual choices during center-time.

We believe that through Arts and Science integration, children prepare to be life-long learners. We provide a safe environment for children to explore, learn, and grow.

Young children learn through the exploration of their environment; through doing, touching, feeling, smelling, in other words, children learn best through “hands-on” experience. Additionally, young children need many opportunities to play. Play encourages the development of the “whole” child, and it is at the forefront of everything we do. The child learns to think, reason, communicate and create.
Active Minds Early Learning Academy is committed to providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum helping children grow in the following areas: language, cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
